The Husky HD by Oslo Motorcycles

Metà Husqvarna, metà Sportster. Metà Europea, metà Americana. Metà dirt bike e metà tourer… Vedetela come volete, ma quel serbatoio straordinario a racchiudere come una parentesi tonda il bicilindrico Harley Davidson è pura gioia per l’appassionato di motociclette speciali.

Si tratta del serbatoio delle Husky degli anni ’70, dirette discendenti di quella 360 Viking che fece tremare le game alla BSA che con le sue Victor, Gold Star Scrambler e Triumph Trophy deteneva il monopoli delle moto fuoristrada, in particolare oltre oceano. Quelle moto, bellissime ma ruvide, pesanti e inaffidabili dovettero cedere il passo alle monocilindriche scandinave più leggere e divertenti. Poi arrivarono le Honda CR e Elsinore ma questa è un’altra storia.
[That tank is from the ’70s Husqvarna dirt bikes, the direct descendant of the 360 Viking who scared to death a British company called BSA, which with its Victor, Gold Star Scrambler and Triumph Trophy had been the only manufacturer active in motocross and desert racing up to that point. Those bikes, beautiful but rough, heavy and less reliable were finally overtaken in the tracks and on the market by those fun and light single-cylinder machines].

È proprio a quel mondo che la Husky HD vuole rendere omaggio: all’Europa che si confonde con l’America, alla potenza, leggerezza e maestosità di un V-twin destinato a farci divertire nei boschi, opportunamente dotato di manubrio da cross, sella monoposto e parafango alto.
La moto, a parte l’evidente trasformazione stilistica, non ha subito importanti modifiche. Salta all’occhio il telaio posteriore, tagliato e chiuso con un tubo a U che tende verso l’alto e gli scarichi corti e avvolti. L’Harley di partenza è un modello troppo recente, ma ci chiediamo che effetto avrebbe fatto un bellissimo, grezzo pedale d’avviamento.
[Th Husky HD is an homage to the golden era of motorcycling, to Europe that melts with America, to the power and stateliness of a V-twin with a motocross handle bar, a single seat and a dirt bike front fender. Apart from those modifications, the bike is almost all stock. Other modified parts are the rear frame and the short, wrapped exhaust. The donor Harley is a recent Sportster model so we wonder how a beautiful, vintage kick starter would have looked like].
