Montesa Cota 200 (1982)

Fantic, Ossa, Montesa… Sono tutti grandi nomi del trial, moto che abbiamo osservato con un misto di curiosità e timore, con quelle fattezze da libellula e il 2 tempi da partenze in terza marcia, o che abbiamo avuto la fortuna di provare, quando il granaio della casa in montagna ci riservava delle belle sorprese.
Per questo motivo è sempre un piacere trovare un vecchio trial nelle stesse condizioni di quando, più di 30 anni prima, uscì dalla linea di montaggio di Barcellona.

[Fantic, Ossa, Montesa… All big names in dirt riding. However, unless we are “trialers”, we have always looked at those bikes with a mix of curiosity and fear, probably due to the dragonfly look and the 2 strokes, super-torqued engines. The luckiest among us have probably ridden them, when dad’s or grandpa’s garage reserved some nice surprises. Other folks might have never seen a trial bike in their life.
it’s always a joy for the eyes to find a motorcycle like this in the same conditions as 33 years ago, when it crossed the final station of the assembly line].

La moto è stata rimessa a nuovo da un signore inglese di nome Oliver Cooper il quale, qualche anno fa, vi lavorò per un Inverno intero prima di restituirle queste magnifiche condizioni. Quando l’aveva acquistata, infatti, non era marciante, e carrozzeria e ciclistica erano piuttosto mal ridotte. Grazie a un meccanico esperto di moto anni ’70 e ’80, riuscì a restaurarla del tutto, utilizzando solo pezzi originali o, se di minuteria, costruiti ad hoc.

[The bike was renewed by the British gentleman Oliver Cooper who worked on it for an entire winter in order to give it these magnificent conditions. When mr. Cooper purchased the bike, the engine was blocked and everything was messed-up both from a mechanical and an aesthetic point of view. A vintage motorcycle expert offered his support and the bike was rebuilt with original parts and, if not possible, with pieces manufactured ad hoc].
