C’è vera innovazione solo quando si è si prende il meglio che il passato ha da offrire e lo si trasforma in qualcosa che nessuno ha mai pensato o osato creare.
Les Ateliers Ruby, produttore di caschi bellissimi, ricercatissimi, chicchissimi e ispirati alla Café Racer Culture è stato posto in liquidazione un non meglio precisato giorno di Dicembre 2014. Non ce lo saremmo mai aspettati: i caschi Ruby si erano visti sulle riviste, i blog e i Tumblr di mezzo mondo fino al giorno prima, e l’azienda aveva appena pubblicato un nuovo sito internet con un configuratore per i suoi diversi modelli. E invece basta. Stop. Closed down.
L’avventura dei fratelli Jerome e Dimitri Coste, parigini autentici, flat-track amateurs e grandi conoscitori di moto custom e cultura americana, finisce così, come per uno dei tanti negozi di Via Condotti o di Rodeo Drive, dove ti chiedi se ci siano abbastanza entrate per pagare affitti così cari. Les Ateliers Ruby resta, in ogni caso, una delle più belle parabole della seconda ondata custom e le sue creazioni saranno a lungo fonte di ispirazione per tanti futuri designer.

Les Ateliers Ruby, manufacturer of beautiful, refined, ultra-chic helmets which take inspiration from the Café Racer Culture has been put into liquidation last December 2014. We would have never expected that: Ruby helmets had been largely seen on magazines, blogs and Tumblrs until the day before and the company had just published the new website with a configurator for the different models.
