Buell RR 1000 Battletwin (1985)

C’è stata l’epoca delle supercarene che, ringraziando il cielo, è durata poco ed è finita da vent’anni. Dalla “creatività ingegneristica” di quegli anni abbiamo però ereditato almeno un paio di modelli degni di essere ricordati: la Buell RR 1000 Battletwin e la BMW K1. E’ proprio la prima, rarissima in Italia, che andiamo a richiamare dalla nostra memoria storica. Forse la maggior parte di noi preferirebbe andare in giro in Solex che con questi 180 chili di alluminio e plastica ma l’aerodinamica, negli anni ’80, era davvero “tanta roba”!

[There was a time of the super-motorcycle fairings that, thank goodness, lasted for a short time and is now more than over. From the “engineering creativity” of those days we inherited at least two models worth our pen and camera: the Buell RR 1000 Battletwin and the BMW K1. It’s the first one which we are now recalling from our historical memory. Perhaps the majority of us would rather cruise around town on a Solex than on this gigantic bike but, we know, aerodynamics in the ’80s was a key issue].

La Buell RR 1000, prodotta dal 1986 al 1988, era equipaggiata con il motore dell’Harley Davidson Sportser dell’epoca. In Italia sono presenti solo due “Battletwin”, una delle quali è proprietà della Numero Uno, concessionaria Harley Davidson di Milano. Il valore si aggira intorno ai 30.000 Euro.

[The RR 1000, produced from 1986 to 1988 was equipped with the Harley Sportster engine. In Italy there are only to “Battletwin”, one of which is property of “Numero Uno”, the Harley Davidson dealer of Milan. The bike is worth around 30.000 Euros].

Venne poi realizzata la versione 1200. Saltano all’occhio gli abbinamenti cromatici degni della copertina di un disco di Frank Zappa.
