[If you were not there, you should think about it and, perhaps, feel disappointed. Yes, we were in Biarritz and, still, we struggle to believe how great it was. Wheels and Waves is everything we have been looking for: motorcycles, surf, a lot of interesting and easy going folks and… Biarritz, a fantastic town by the Atlantic Ocean, close to the border between France and Spain. Everyone was at Wheels and Waves, builders from France, Australia, Japan and Italy. Among the others, we could admire the creations of Shinya Kimura, Deus ex Machina, Vibrazioni Art Design, Fuel Bispoke Motorcycles, Blitz Motorcycles, La Manufacture, Moto di Ferro and many others. There were 5.000 bikes and 10.000 people all curious about the new trends of the new wave of custom motorcycles. Among the manufacturers, BMW, Ducati, Triumph and Yamaha were all at Wheels and Waves].
Kickstarting is an art! And deeply missed by many of us.
[What was more important is the relaxed and friendly environment and the sincere interest towards the work of these extraordinary moto-artists. Snobby people were not admitted at Wheels and Waves: everyone talked with everyone, you could drink a beer with Deus’ designers or discuss about the next edition with Vincent Prat who, together with his motorcycle club, the Southsiders, is the founder of what we can consider the most important event about special motorcycles and motorcycle culture in general. On the contrary, style was not only admitted but welcome and requested: beside the extraordinary bikes, the most iconic pieces of motorcycle gear were shown at Wheels and Waves. We cannot forget to mention Alpinestars which, with its line Oscar by Alpinestars and its wonderful tailor-made boots is working to contaminate dirt-riding with elegance and style. Now, since images are more explicative than a thousand words, we invite you to admire the whole photo collection (go to the very end of the page)].
Deus ex Machina and 400 cc. A classic.
What a BMW! Plus ridden with great style
Dream garage at Deus Ex Machina’s stand.
Amazing bike plus surf rack. La Manufacture’s folks were surely the most photographed.
Kawa brat-style. Such a killer.
Choppers were a lot! And very likable, even if you don’t particularly appreciate this type of motorcycle.
Painted Airhead by Café Racer Spirit.
Wohaaa! No further comments.
Rusty trackers: the ones we prefer!
Oh yeah, we made friends there! And Amphibious bags are perfect for hard-core traveling!
Francesco Veneziani of Milano Café Racer, what a dude! Fixing his in-need Yamaha TX 500 before heading back to Milan.
A looot of tattoos at Wheels and Waves.
BSA special. Motorcycles become art.
Jonathan Gibson rode this 350 cc Royal Enfield from Sidney to London. Respect.
A helmet decorated by Filippo “Le Mani” Fiumani at El Solitario stand.
There was enough space also for the little bugs. This one is fantastic.
