BMW R 75/5 “Freiin” by Brandon Mungai

Le BMW degli anni ’70 sono bellissime: linee tirate con il righello, motore “tutto fuori” e accostamenti cromatici degni di una copertina di un disco dei Kraftwerk.
Brandon Mungai, ragazzo Californiano appassionato di eliche Bavaresi, ha acquistato questa moto dopo un incidente con un modello simile e, durante la fisioterapia, ha pensato bene di ricostruirla da zero. Il risultato è una “toaster” (tostapane, nome con cui si identificano le Beemer con quel serbatoio) fedelissima all’originale ma con un tocco café racer che non passa inosservato ai più attenti e esperti.

[70s BMWs are amazing, the oddball lines, the “all-out” engine e the colors borrowed from a Kraftwerk’s album cover. Brandon Mungai, a custom maker from California with a passion for Bavarian machines, bought this motorcycle after an accident with a similar model and re-built it ground-up while recovering from the unfortunate event. The result is a “toaster” which resembles the stock R 75/5, but with a personal café racer touch].

Meccanica e ciclistica della moto sono state completamente ricostruite con pezzi di fornitori e artigiani europei e americani. La trasformazione in café racer, evidente dai semimanubri, è così leggera da rendere la moto completamente reversibile con mezza giornata di lavoro in officina.

[Engine, gearbox and suspensions have been rebuilt with parts purchased from European and American craftsmen. The transformation in café racer (check the handlebar) is so light that the bike can be converted back to stock with half a day of greasy hands in the workshop].
